Our Story
Our founder, Kim Eyckmans, started his career as a PV engineer at a leading solar EPC company where he noticed a major gap: the tools available simply weren’t built for the speed and precision engineers actually needed. Driven to change that, he started his own company to build the solutions he knew the industry was missing.
What started as a response to a practical challenge has grown into a global company. Today, we are a dedicated team with that same engineering DNA. Because we build software for engineers, by engineers, we bring years of firsthand experience and deep technical knowledge to everything we develop.
2019
The Beginning
After experiencing the limitations of existing solar design tools while working in the EPC industry, Kim Eyckmans founds Virtuosolar with the vision of creating a new standard in PV engineering software.
2020
Building Foundations
We begin developing engineering-focused CAD and web solutions for mounting system manufacturers, quickly gaining traction in the solar market.
2021
Accelerating Innovation
Supported by an innovation grant from the Flemish government (VLAIO), we accelerate the development of our next-generation software platform.
The Rebrand — 2022
Becoming Virto Solar
As our international ambitions grow, we rebrand to Virto Solar and launch Virto.CORE, expanding our cloud-based engineering ecosystem.
2023
Expanding The Team
Virto evolves into a fast-growing international team, moving into a larger office and exhibiting at major solar trade fairs across Europe.
2024
Increasing Our Impact
We celebrate our 5-year anniversary and launch Virto.MAX, further strengthening our software suite for solar professionals worldwide.
2025
Virto.CAD 2.0
A major milestone: a complete redesign and launch of Virto.CAD 2.0, delivering a faster, more modern, and more powerful engineering experience.
2026 & beyond
